365 days to 40

Well, it's my 39th birthday today (Happy Birthday to me!) So, I have made a decision to start blogging the last year of being in my 30's. I'm sure there are millions of blogs out there of the same topic, so now I'm adding mine to the list. My goal is to document every day for the next year. Some days will probably be stressful, mundane and blah, but I hope that peppered into the mix will be the days of joy, laughter, gratitude and new experiences. Can I do it? I'm sure gonna try.

My birthday fell on the Sabbath this year. When I was younger, I would always dread having my birthday on the Sabbath because I didn't want to wait until after sundown was over to celebrate. And with sundown being so close to 9:00pm, it would almost be too late to celebrate. So that would mean that celebrations were usually left to happen the next day...if they ever did. But as I got older, having a Sabbath birthday has been quite enjoyable. I think it's because it's more relaxed, preparations are done, no need to rush around, and there is nothing to do but enjoy the day that God has given us. Yes, give me a Sabbath birthday any day!

Today started off with a beautiful breakfast made by my loving hubby and little one, with birthday cards, flowers and gifts on the table. Then off to church where we enjoyed a musical program from a choir and male quartet. Our dear church pastor, who is suffering from end stage prostate cancer, was in attendance. It made me so happy to be able see him and have a little chat. He is truly an amazing example of strength and faithfulness to God. What a great present! Then a walk at one of my favourite places (English Bay and Stanley Park) and lunch. All in all, a perfect day!

Phew...day one is over. Let's see what tomorrow brings :)
